The Prov Iowa candidate information bulletin (5 Jan 2026) has you select "the license (and language) you are seeking" at registration and points to NIC's foreign-language bulletins through Prov's drop-down; it does not list which languages Iowa offers, so confirm yours with Prov before you book. No interpreters are provided and "accommodations will not be provided based solely on a candidate's inability to read and comprehend English" — the translated paper is the accommodation. If you sit the paper in Spanish, Korean or Vietnamese, the matching NICPrep edition carries the same blueprint in that language; if you sit it in English, study the English bundle.
Iowa is one of roughly 14 states requiring CE for cosmetology license renewal. Per biennial cycle: minimum 6 hours total — at least 4 hours specific to your license discipline (cosmetology technique, hair, skin, or nail content) plus at least 2 hours in Iowa barbering and cosmetology laws, rules, and infection control. First renewal is exempt from CE requirements. All CE may be completed online through Iowa Board-approved providers. Renewal window: May 1 – December 31 of odd-numbered years.
If you hold multiple Iowa beauty licenses, CE requirements increase: one license = 6 hrs; two licenses = 10 hrs (4 hrs per discipline + 2 hrs Iowa law); three licenses = 14 hrs (4 hrs per discipline + 2 hrs Iowa law). Instructors require 12–16 hrs including teaching methodology hours.
